Nature

I have always thought that Nature is one the great subject matters for photographers. As a student at Rochester Institute I studied the works of the great American landscape photographers who worked with big format cameras photographing the American west. You need a big camera for a big subject matter. I had a 4X5 camera and I was aware of how it forced me to look at the world differently, to slow down, to think more about the subject matter, to compose the subject perfectly and learn to be disciplined and take one photo at a time. When I look at these photos of rock forms and ice patterns I think of the camera that made it possible, my 4X5 camera.
